This is Scooby. A Yellow Lab or Yellow Labrador Retriever. He is a huge lummox of a dog. I say that lovingly, because he is such a great dog.

The Labrador Retriever is an intelligent and very family friendly dog that originated in Newfoundland according to the AKC. The Labrador Retriever comes in 3 colors, yellow, black and chocolate. It’s intelligence is matched by its aptitude to please its master, making it an ideal breed as an assist dog in situations such as Guide dog for the blind. Their keen sense of smell makes them great for narcotics detection and for search and rescue.

Originally from Newfoundland, the yellow lab was initially used to assist the fisherman. It would help pull in nets and catch fish that would escape from nets or off lines. After being crossed with Setters, Spaniels and Retrievers, the Labrador Retriever became a true retriever. From that point forward, the “Lab” as it is affectionately called was bred to be a gamer hunter, but its stable temperament made it suitable for a number of activities beyond being just a hunting dog.

This dog is an ideal family dog. The yellow lab thrives as part of an active family and is a loyal and constant companion. Its place in the world is beside you and craves attention. Its temperment even allows scooby the yellow lab to live peacefully with 2 cats.

These Yellow Labrador dogs love to fetch, or retrieve like their hearts depend on it. A great past time for them is to buy one of those extended arms, that allow you to toss a tennis ball extreme distances. Get one of those and watch how the yellow lab will fetch that ball over and over until it is completely and thoroughly exhausted. then, one it catches its breath, its is time to go again.

If you like a larger dog, I highly recommend a yellow lab. Their face is so beautiful, they are strongly built, medium sized, short-coupled dog possessing a well balanced physique. They just love to cuddle up close with their people. Their coat is lush and warm, but boy to they shed, which means the require constant brushing to remove that coat that seems to just keep growing and growing as it shed pounds of hair through out your house. Yellow Lab puppies are positivley beautiful
